Tung Chung Swimming Pool Complex is the first 50-metre standard public indoor swimming pool on Lantau Island. The whole project cost HK$415M and was completed in 2010. The construction floor area of the project is 15,032m2, including a 3-storey stand with a capacity of 1000 people, a 50-meter standard indoor swimming pool, and a 25-meter outdoor swimming pool. The complex is equipped with a tensioned PTFE membrane roof system, which can perform anti high temperature, is extremely chemical in-reactive, and is easy to clean. These features can effectively reduce maintenance costs. Due to the special features, the complex was awarded the Architectural Services Department Annual Award 2011 – Special Architectural Award (Technology Innovation). It also shortlisted in The Hong Kong Institution of Architects(HKIA) Annual Award 2011 as well as the Quality Building Award 2012, which is Jointly organized by nine professional organizations in Hong Kong and held every 2 years.
