The new academic building at No. 3 Sassoon Road is part of the long-term development strategy of the University of Hong Kong’s Sassoon Road Campus. The building provides healthcare-related teaching and research facilities for the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine. This allows the University to expand its medical teaching capacity, in line with the Government initiative to increase the intake of medicine, nursing and dental students to relieve the shortage of healthcare manpower in Hong Kong. The project is estimated to cost HK$810.9M, with a site area of 3,550 m² and a floor area of 14,700 m².
