Former Lau Fau Shan Police Station – Hong Kong Guide Dogs Academy
Location
Lau Fau Shan, Hong Kong
Client
Hong Kong Guide Dogs Association
Project Description
The Former Lau Fau Shan Police Station will be revitalised into the Hong Kong Guide Dogs Academy by the Hong Kong Guide Dogs Association (HKGDA), as part of the Hong Kong Government’s Revitalising Historic Buildings Through Partnership Scheme. The Academy will be used to breed and train service dogs, including guide dogs for people who are visually impaired, and therapy dogs to provide outreach services for a wider scope of people in need.
Built in 1962, the former police station is a Grade 3 historic building. The revitalisation project will preserve most of the existing structure of the building, such as the rooftop guard towers, former cell room, armoury, and loading and unloading areas for guns.
