Project Description
Established in 1961, Castle Peak Hospital is the oldest psychiatric hospital in Hong Kong. Redevelopment of the hospital was required since the building’s dated design and construction was unable to adequately accommodate modern psychiatric facilities and needs. Beria participated in the hospital’s redevelopment project and handled its Hong Kong Jockey Club Jubilation Hall section. The construction cost HK$169M, with a construction floor area of 11,151 square metres. The upgraded development now provides 1,100 beds for general psychiatric admissions for residents of New Territories West cluster, with 20 new wards and a patient host system. The hospital operates the only Psychiatric Forensic Unit in Hong Kong, provides training in psychiatry and psychology, and works to increase the community’s awareness about mental health through educational activities. The Jubilation Hall reached the Hong Kong Building Environmental Assessment Method (HKBEAM) gold standard.
